Estimated to generate $4.6 billion for local economies nationwide, it’s no secret that the hottest tickets of the summer are for Taylor Swift’s The Eras tour.
Residents of The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Rome may have been disappointed when they didn’t score tickets when her tour stopped in the New York City area at the end of May, but their recreations of Swift’s album covers show that there was no Bad Blood between them.
“We love creating fun and wholesome content here with our guests and using our creativity,” said The Grand at Rome activities director Leigh Nicholas. “We have a really good group here and they’re always willing to jump in on anything silly. One of our models has worn the red lipstick a couple of times since the photo shoot and she stopped me the other day to tell me she’s been practicing her puckering in the mirror. She can nail it now.”
The community recreated images from seven different Swift albums in a series of photoshoots. Residents and staff collaborated to find the perfect wardrobes to bring their vision to life.
“It’s taking on a world of its own. It’s in different Taylor Swift fan clubs on Facebook. It’s been shared nearly 200 times, 500 impressions,” said The Grand at Rome creative director Shelley Serber. “It’s crazy just seeing it come to fruition working with Leigh and her incredible team. If not for them agreeing to have so much fun over a couple days together, this wouldn’t have happened.”
Nicholas is happy to see the group’s work being recognized online, but the icing on the cake is bringing out the unique personalities of each resident. Just like the Swift album of the same name, they were Fearless in front of the camera.
“My favorite part is always hands down their reaction at the completion of it all,” said Nicholas. “As soon as they sent over the finalized images for the Facebook posts, I started seeking out all of them. Everyone was just like, ‘Oh, my God. Can you print me that? Can you get me that? I want to send that to my son,’ and they were so happy themselves.”
